Brampton Circular
Leader: Judy Cherrie
Photos: Judy Cherrie and Sharron Murray
After taking the bus to Brampton, we were joined by others who had opted to join us by car. We were lucky with the weather and when we got to the old church Judy went and got the key from the nearby farm so we could inspect the inside. The cemetery was very interesting too. We retraced our steps and sat in the sun in the new cemetery for a while before heading back into the town where we visited the new parish church and had lunch at the Howard Arms.

A walk Glaramara and Rosthwaite Fell
Leader: Bruce McMillan
Twenty of us started up the long ascent of the ridge to Glaramara. At the top, approx. half did the scramble and the others went around to the path on the other side. Hiding from the cold wind, we had lunch. Weather up to now was OK, warm, sunny with bouts of cold wind. Alas, between the tops of Glaramara and Rothswaite Fell, we had, what Brendan said, was an hour-ish of 4 seasons weather! Light rain, hail, windy and on the way down, sunny! We crossed between the tops with the ground not too wet underfoot. We then descended the steepish hillside to cross the beck to the original path. On the way down, there were some minor slips and falls, including myself!!!
We arrived back at the hotel in the sun for some well earned refreshments. Thanks to all who came on the walk.

Warwick Bridge
Leader: Elizabeth Alnutt
Five of us took the bus into Warwick Bridge, where we picked up six more and ventured into what we feared was going to be a damp and chilly day. The day grew better and better as we walked by lots of places associated with Peter Dixon and his cotton mills. We crossed the Newcastle railway line several times, walked through a wooded glen next to a beck, met some friendly horses, saw lots of wild flowers, lunched at Faugh on some very old and creaky picnic tables and braved the wilder wastes of a field where the stile was just visible on the further edge!
Sally's always does a good scone and tea and was close to the bus stop home again.
Thanks to everyone for a good day.
Elizabeth.

Melmerby
Leader: Astrid Carss
Gorgeous weather for our walk today up Melmerby Fell and Fiends Fell. We had plenty of banana breaks to enjoy the views. Had lunch stop at Knapside Hill. Hartside looked busy with boy racers and motorbikes. We then made our way back down though country lanes enjoying all the wildlife. Not as boggy as feared. Then all eleven of us and 2 dogs went to the Shepherds Inn for a drink and some chose to have ice cream.
Lovely company and weather.
Thankyou to all for a great day ☺️ Astrid
