Guidance and Risk Assessment for Walkers
Walkers take part in walks entirely at their own risk. The Carlisle and District Ramblers Club, its Committee and walk leaders cannot accept any responsibility for injuries or loss incurred by members or other persons whilst taking part in any of the club's activities.
Always follow the walk leader's instructions.
Wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the conditions likely to be encountered. If in doubt get in touch with the walk leader in advance of the walk.
Bring a change of footwear for the journey home. Do NOT wear dirty boots in someone else's car.
Take food and drink with you. You will need extra water for strenuous routes or in warm weather. Carry extra rations just in case of emergency.
Contact the leader if you are meeting them at the start of the walk.
Stay with the group. Walk behind the leader unless you have been given permission to go ahead. Stay in front of the back marker unless you have been given permission to drop behind (comfort break, take a photo etc.) Catch up as quickly as possible. If you have left the group and are out of contact for more than a few minutes, you will be deemed to have left the group and you will have to make your own way from then.
If you intend to leave the walk the leader or back marker must be informed.
If you are experiencing any difficulties or any other problem arises, inform the leader or the back marker immediately.
Carry contact details and essential medical information with you.
